I have collected Dunhill sandblasted pipes for many years and particularly admire those with deep craggy blasts. I am captivated by what this art form does to
the wood, revealing a myriad of aesthetically interesting patterns. This
is the reason I sandblast pipes. I feel blessed and excited to reveal
what this wood, briar, has to offer.
Much has been discussed regarding sandblasting and the artistic techniques
utilized. Finding the growth rings undulating patterns fascinating and
beautiful, I work diligently to capture their flowing rhythm as they meander
within the briar.
The following photos offer views of three pieces of briar which I have
sandblasted in three different methods and not altering the flow of the rings,
nor creating what was not there.
I am in hopes that this page presents the viewer with a better understanding of
sandblasting, an art form I truly embrace and love.
I offer pipes
created with each technique and welcome inquiries.
A NEW PROJECT IN THE WORKS
I am beginning a new project that will show the process from start to finish. This will be on a new page titled: SANDBLASTING STEPS Check the site often to get a better understanding of the process.
